East Orange started its season on a positive note, edging out Wayne Hills 60-55 in the Tyrone Collins Tip-Off Classic in East Orange.
James Roberts led the way for East Orange with a game-high 16 points, including going 8-for-9 from the free throw line. Roberts also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds and dished out three assists.
East Orange jumped out to a 36-25 halftime lead and withstood a third-quarter surge from Wayne Hills, who outscored East Orange 21-9 in the period to take a 46-45 lead into the fourth. But East Orange regrouped and outscored Wayne Hills 15-9 in the final frame to secure the season-opening victory.
Elijah Caldwell stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a game-high four steals for East Orange. Stageon King also chipped in 12 points.
