Dec 14 (Reuters) – Providence police said early on Sunday they have ‍taken a person of interest into custody in connection with the shooting at Brown University, ‌NBC 10 WJAR ‌reported.

The police did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Brown University said the shelter-in-place order on its campus ‍was lifted early on Sunday, although police remained at ‍the location and still considered it an active crime scene.

More than 400 law enforcement ‍officers were deployed on Saturday as authorities searched for the ‍suspect ‍in the Rhode Island shooting that ⁠killed two students ‌and wounded nine others at the Ivy League school.
