Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan has revealed he was 'locked in a restaurant' during Sunday's terrifying shooting on Bondi Beach.
Revellers had been enjoying a happy evening of celebration at the world-famous beach close to the city. Two gunmen then reportedly got out of a car and started shooting at about 6.40pm.
New South Wales Police say 11 people have been killed in the shooting. Officers say 29 people have been taken to hospital - including a child.
A Jewish Hanukkah celebration had reportedly started in the area of the shooting, according to ABC News - although there has been no official confirmation that this event was a target. Hanukkah, also known as Chanukah, is an eight-day festival of light. Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT
