MUSKEGON, MI – A parole board panel expressed high confidence in its decision to release a man with a violent history, believing he would not become a threat to society.

Eight months after Deangelo Lonell Aubrey was paroled from prison, he allegedly killed two of his former girlfriends, Shelenthia Willis and Sasha Spears , hours apart in Muskegon Heights.

Aubrey, 43, is awaiting trial in Muskegon County Circuit Court on two counts of open murder for alleged homicides prosecutors described as “some of the most brutal ways a person can be killed.”

Aubrey has a history of violence that has put him behind bars before.

He was 17 years old when he was first sentenced to prison in 2000 for an armed robbery case. Aubrey was paroled in 2014 after serving 14 years for the crime.
