The huge crowd that packed out St James' STACK for the Wear-Tyne Derby on Sunday ended up being in the presence of two Newcastle United legends. And Alan Shearer and Shay Given got a heroes welcome as they walked on stage.

While the scenes of Carabao Cup final day, when fans queued up from the early hours to get into STACK, weren't mirrored for the first league derby in nine years, as a ticket only entry rule meant that people didn't have to line up for ages in the hopes of getting in; once doors at the popular venue opened at 10am, it took no time at all for crowds to come flooding in in their droves, as the build up to the big game went up a few notches.
