MARTINY TOWNSHIP— A man is in critical condition after a stabbing in Mecosta County early this morning.

Deputies were called to a home in Martiny Township around 3:35 a.m. near 17 Mile Road and 90th Avenue. Investigators said a fight between a 44-year-old man from Rodney and a 28-year-old man from Big Rapids led to the older man being stabbed.

He was taken to Big Rapids Hospital and later airlifted to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He is in critical condition.

The suspect ran from the scene but was arrested nearby and is being held in the Mecosta County Jail. His name will be released after arraignment.

The investigation is ongoing.
