The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued a statement Sunday condemning the terrorist attack against the Jewish community in Australia on the first night of Hanukkah.

At least 15 people were killed and dozens more injured after two shooters targeted a Hanukkah gathering on Sunday at Bondi Beach in Sydney.

One of the gunmen was also killed and another 40 people were hospitalized in the attack.

The statement says the church is mourning with the global Jewish community.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragedy that took place in Sydney targeting people of faith as they gathered,” according to the statement. “We condemn, and feel acutely the pain of, such a senseless act and mourn with our brothers and sisters in the Jewish community around the world.
