The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday said that Oregon transportation officials are still unsure when they will be able to reopen a portion of OR 229 that was buried by a landslide on Friday.
Oregon Department of Transportation crews “need time to assess the slope and determine next steps before a timeline can be established,” spokesperson Jess Palma wrote in a news release.

The Friday slide prompted officials to issue evacuation orders for 10 homes, the sheriff’s office said. It damaged three buildings, including two homes.
“The area is still active and can be dangerous,” Palma wrote.
The state highway, which follows the bends of the Siletz River, is closed between milepost 14 and mile
