Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes received tough injury news following Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Mahomes has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the year, the Chiefs have announced. He will undergo surgery soon.
"Injury Update on QB Patrick Mahomes: An MRI has confirmed that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes sustained a torn ACL in his left knee in today’s game,“ the Chiefs posted on X . ”Patrick and the club are currently exploring surgical options."
Patrick Mahomes was injured during the final 2 minutes of Sunday’s loss to the Chargers. The injury occurred as he was thrown down by Chargers defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand.
The loss eliminated the Chiefs from the playoffs as they fell to 6-8 on the season.
