AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Be sure to stay weather aware over the next 48 hours as the threat of both severe storms and localized flash flooding increases late tonight.

Friday daytime

Most of today will be fairly quiet with only a few spotty showers and isolated storms possible during the morning and early afternoon hours. Gusty winds out of the south/southeast could reach up to 25 mph with afternoon highs retuning to the mid- to upper 80s.

Rain chances during the day today stand at 30%, but rise quickly after sunset.

Friday night into Saturday

Rain and storm coverage ramps up late tonight as a complex of strong to severe storms moves into the Hill Country after 7 p.m. and into the Austin metro after 10 p.m. before moving into our eastern counties after midnight.
