The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area off Florida and the southeastern coast for potential development.
A non-tropical area of low pressure is forecast to form near or offshore of the southeastern U.S. coast during the next couple of days.
Repeated showers and thunderstorms are expected across much of Florida this week, with flooding possible in some locations.
At 8 a.m., all was quiet in the tropics, with no tropical cyclone activity expected over the next seven days.
That changed six hours later, with the National Hurricane Center highlighting an area off the southeast coast of Florida and the U.S.
