ROCHESTER, Minn. — Olmsted County has officially renamed its parks department to Olmsted County Parks and Trails.

This change highlights the department's broadened mission to enhance both parks and trail systems that link parks, neighborhoods, and communities throughout the county.

The shift is intended to reflect a growing emphasis on trails, as indicated by the 2022 Olmsted County Resident Survey , where residents prioritized trail and greenway connections for recreation. The new name also aligns with a vision to improve trail access and strengthen park-to-community links.
