CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – An arrest for drug and gun crimes results in a former Floyd County man heading for federal prison.

Ramelle Lewis Williams, 53 of Chicago, Illinois, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty in December 23, 2024, to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.

Law enforcement says when it executed a search warrant at the Charles City home where Williams was living in April 2023, they located methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl, along with a firearm. Williams had a prior conviction for attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.

After getting out of federal prison, Williams will serve five years on supervised release.
