WILLOW GROVE — Not much separated Upper Moreland and Cardinal O’Hara in the first round of the PIAA-2A state playoffs Tuesday afternoon at Upper Moreland Senior High School.
The largest lead of the game was two goals and 48 minutes weren’t enough to decide a winner. Fifty-one minutes weren’t enough, either.
In double overtime, Annalise Messina scored her fifth goal of the game to lift (1-3) Upper Moreland to a 7-6 win over (12-1) Cardinal O’Hara and advance the Golden Bears to the quarterfinals Saturday against (2-1) Abington Heights.
Messina’s score came with 1:38 remaining in the second overtime.
