OBERLIN — Andrew LaPolla gave up one early run, but St. John couldn’t do anything at the dish the rest of the way.
LaPolla allowed one run on three hits in a complete game. He struck out three while leading the Eagles to a 6-1 win over the Heralds on Tuesday in a Division VII regional semifinal at Oberlin College.
“He did an outstanding job. That was the foundation in this win,” Warren JFK head coach Jim Ciambotti said. “It started with that. He gave up in the first inning a couple hard-hit balls, they scored the first run of the game. Didn’t let it affect him.”
The Kennedy southpaw settled in after giving up a run in the first inning. After that, though, he had his breaking ball working, keeping the Heralds off balance in the final six innings.
