NETHER PROVIDENCE — Strath Haven has had some practice in recent weeks on what would be Tuesday’s primary test.

On paper, the District 1 Class 2A champion was the better team in their PIAA opener against Archbishop Wood. Strath Haven has seen plenty of that, as the battle-tested top seed in the district field forged in the foundry that is the Central League. The task was to make it look that lopsided on the final margin.

After a slow start, with Annie Dignazio prodding them onward, they got there, defeating Wood, 18-4.

The win is the eighth in a row for Haven (16-7). It puts them into Saturday’s quarterfinals against Crestwood, the District 2 runner-up that handled Lewisburg, 21-4. That game is at a neutral site to be determined.
