WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — The City of Warwick has launched a new red light enforcement program to improve intersection safety and curb dangerous driving.
City officials say red light running and speeding are among the most dangerous traffic behaviors happening daily across Warwick.
To combat the problem, 15 cameras have been installed at "known trouble spots" throughout the city, according to Mayor Frank Picozzi.
Data from traffic technology company Altumint shows that more than 140 red light violations occur each day at the intersection of Greenwich and Main avenues. On a single day, 508 violations were tracked at the intersection of Post (US-1) and Airport roads.
