SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Westcott Theater is preparing to open its doors to patrons Thursday night after it was shut down by the Syracuse Division of Code Enforcement, citing the concert venue for safety hazards.
A spokesperson for Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh's Office said the Syracuse Fire Department inspected the venue and determined that any fire prevention concerns have been "satisfactorily addressed." The spokesperson noted that the city has approved an entertainment license for the weekend's scheduled events.
The lack of an entertainment license was one of the reasons that led to the brief closure of the venue. City officials revealed that Westcott Theater did not have an entertainment license after a police response to a shots-fired report in the early morning hours of May 31.
Police said
