Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse officials on Thursday cleared the Westcott Theater to reopen and proceed with its planned weekend lineup of entertainment.
Sol Munoz, a City Hall spokesperson, said theater management had resolved open code violations and obtained the necessary entertainment licenses.
Code enforcement officials used their emergency powers on Tuesday to order the theater closed .
They said in a letter to management that unlicensed concerts at the theater “present an immediate danger to the health, safety or welfare to the occupants of the property and to the general public.”
Management had not applied in the past year for the entertainment license needed for every event at the theater at 524 Westcott St., city officials said in the Tuesday letter, a copy of which was obtained
