SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Fire Department is alerting the public to fraudulent donation requests.
The Fire Department said it has recently received multiple inquiries from concerned people regarding how they can donate to the department. The agency said that it was made aware that phone calls are being made by scammers pretending to represent the Syracuse Fire Department and requesting donations.
"While we deeply appreciate the continued support and generosity of our community, we want to make it clear that the Syracuse Fire Department is not currently accepting public donations to support our operations or budget," the Fire Department said in a news release.
The department noted that it does not request any financial donations and warned that any such requests are fraudulent.
