HONOLULU (Island News)-- Two Honolulu police officers were injured on Thursday responding to an unstable man with a knife in the downtown area. The man who assaulted them was arrested.

The officers were dispatched at 6 p.m. on June 5 to a man described as acting erratically near Piikoi and S. King Street. The suspect was armed with a knife. In order to evade the officers, he went onto the road.

Two officers were assaulted as they tried to apprehend him. The 25-year-old man was arrested for two counts of first-degree assault against a law enforcement officer.

The injured officers were taken to the hospital for further treatment. Emergency Medical Services has yet to report what condition they were in at the scene and what type of injuries they both sustained.
