OMAHA, Neb. —
Creighton University's annual abilities camp in Omaha provides children with special needs the opportunity to learn basketball skills from Bluejay athletes and physical therapy students, offering a unique hands-on learning experience.
"It's a time to take what we've learned from class and kind of put it in a real-world experience and give these kids the opportunity to tell, you know, hang out with the basketball team, but also learn how to, like, be with the adaptive equipment," a physical therapy student said.
Josh Dix, who recently transferred to the Creighton basketball team, is helping out at the camp and has a personal connection, as his brother participated this year.
"It was cool, you know, he shot some baskets, you know, dribbled around a little bit," Dix said.
