LITTLE CYPRESS, Texas — After securing their first outright district championship since 1994 last season, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Battlin’ Bears are facing a new challenge, defending that title with a much younger squad. With only nine starters returning from last year’s team, repeating as district champions will be no easy feat.
Head coach Eric Peevey said he is focused on getting his inexperienced players ready for the season. He explained that his message to the team has been to replace nerves with preparation, adding that he hopes his players approach game days with the confidence that comes from knowing they are ready to perform.
