Swope park hosted the 46th annual Ethnic Enrichment Festiva l on Saturday. Even with temperatures feeling like they were close to 100 degrees, thousands packed the event to celebrate the diverse communities that make up the Kansas City metropolitan area. More than 60 countries were represented at the festival.

There was plenty of food to sample at the festival. Vendors sold spicy dishes traditional to their countries like Jamaican jerk chicken and tacos from Mexico and the not-so-spicy, like raclette, a dish traditional to Switzerland, where molten cheese from a wheel of raclette cheese is poured over potatoes and other foods.

New to the festival’s food booth collection this year was a stand representing Palestine. The Palestinian community had been represented in the parade of natio
