Will run in Ocotillo District in 2026

Rory Goree announced his campaign for the Ocotillo District seat on the Glendale City Council on Aug. 14 as a defender of the downtown he believes city leaders left behind.

Goree’s campaign video was unveiled at the event in Bitzee Mama’s restaurant. It details rust and sediment ending up in local tap water, a quiet Murphy Park that used to be alive with festivals, a string of downtown businesses now shuttered and spots where police are short staffed.

He’s been a regular in the downtown for 30-plus years. At one point Goree owned one of those small businesses, Espresso Garden Coffee next to The Spicery.
