MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- Conditions will change by the hour this week, and while Hurricane Erin won’t make landfall, the storm is making its presence along the Grand Strand known in other ways.

The News13 weather team is reporting a high risk of rip currents through Friday, with waves reaching 6-9 feet Tuesday through Thursday.

There is also a high surf advisory through Thursday evening, and the strong currents Erin is sending from out at sea have already led to dozens of water rescues along the East Coast.

While the conditions on the beach look close to a normal, sunny, summer day, the danger lies in the underlying currents and water conditions that can change on a dime.
