KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — While focus was largely centered on discussions about selling a portion of land in Chilhowee Park, the Knoxville City Council on Tuesday gave the greenlight for a major sidewalk project.

Councilmembers approved an $882,100 contract to replace about 34,000 square feet of sidewalks.

Sidewalks replacements will occur at 42 sites, including parts of Hall of Fame Drive, North Broadway, Harriet Tubman Street and Jefferson Avenue. The city compiled the list from reports to 311, where people can make service requests.

The contract is with Design & Construction Services, Inc. This is part of the 2025 Sidewalk Replacement Project.
