ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A civil dispute led to a shooting that left one person dead and another injured in Alexander County, deputies say.

Alexander County 911 received a call reporting a civil dispute on Never Mountain Road around 11:14 a.m. on Wednesday. Five minutes later, a second 911 call came in from the same location reporting a shooting and that two people were shot.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered two people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One of the victims, Robert Alan Carpenter, 65, of Taylorsville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was treated by EMS before being transported to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident started as a civil dispute over property
