For years, hundreds of fans have gathered early at Memorial Stadium on Husker Saturdays, not just for football, but to watch the Cornhusker Marching Band — the "Pride of All Nebraska" — up close.

But in a couple of weeks, when Nebraska holds its season opener Sept. 6 against Akron, that tradition will come to an end.

On Wednesday, the University of Nebraska announced that gameday dress rehearsals will no longer be open to the public due to updated security policies.

While band students will continue to rehearse on gameday mornings as usual, the stadium will be closed to spectators so security can complete routine sweeps earlier.
