The city of Marion has a new logo.
The logo was unveiled at Tuesday’s meeting of the Marion City Council, which took place at Addie’s Chapel United Methodist Church in the West Marion community.
Katie R. Stinson, the city clerk and public information officer, designed the logo and presented it to council members.
The new logo features the distinctive dome on top of the Marion City Hall. The downtown landmark was built in 1903. The building served as a bank for a century before it became the city hall.
The city was originally going to work with the consulting firm of Destination by Design for the creation of a new logo. This firm did the rebranding for the Marion Business Association and the McDowell Tourism Development Authority. Ultimately, the city of Marion chose to have the work do
