The University of Notre Dame has unveiled a new football-specific Fighting Irish leprechaun logo, the school announced Thursday.
Notre Dame’s new football leprechaun logo was designed in-house by Fighting Irish Media, with input from athletic department staff and inspiration from photos and running styles of current and former student-athletes, according to a news release .
This marks the first update to Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish logo since its original design in the 1960s. The logo first appeared on the cover of the Time magazine issue on Nov. 20, 1964 , featuring legendary Notre Dame head coach Ara Parseghian. That Fighting Irish image was developed and designed into the now-famous logo that the school has used for the past six decades.
