Elected officials lead massive school supply campaign for struggling families

SUNSET PARK TO GRAVESEND — HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN will have the school supplies they need to excel this year, thanks to a joint effort between elected officials in southwestern Brooklyn, philanthropic groups, and businesses. City Councilmember Susan Zhuang (D-43) and Assemblymember William Colton (D-47) partnered with several area nonprofits that donated supplies or funds, including the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, to coordinate the event along with hundreds of donations from Madison Square Garden Entertainment, Met Council, United Chinese Association of Brooklyn, Sharing Hearts, Happy Toys, CAIPA Foundation, Chinese American Social Services Center, the NYPD, Council of Peoples Organization, United Cultural Association, Homecrest Community Services, Better Brooklyn Association, Gar
