WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - This spring, Wichita approved an ordinance to allow golf carts on city streets. Now that it’s in effect, some neighborhoods are trying to remind people there are rules.

Among the rules of the ordinance, golf carts can only be driven on public roads with a speed limit of 30 mph or lower. Additionally, golf carts can only cross streets at controlled intersections.

The drivers must be over 16 years old and have a valid driver’s license.

The ordinance also includes enforcement of safety features on golf carts, such as brake lights, reflectors, and rearview mirrors.
