A woman riding an electric scooter was hit by a car Friday afternoon and died of her injuries, Hamilton police say.

Around 5 p.m., paramedics were called to the intersection of Maple and Grosvenor avenues, in the east end of Hamilton, near Gage Park, police said in a news release.

The woman was transported to hospital but died of her injuries.

"At this time, the police are actively seeking any potential witnesses to this incident, and urge anyone with information to come forward," said the news release.

Police are also requesting any drivers in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras. Businesses and neighbours are asked to check security camera footage.
