Australia Post has suspended shipping business parcels to the United States after President Donald Trump signed an executive order last month imposing tariffs on items under $US800 (about $1230).
The order affects senders who will now need to pre-pay the corresponding tariffs before their parcels arrive in the US.
“We are disappointed we have had to take this action, however, due to the complex and rapidly evolving situation, a temporary partial suspension has been necessary to allow us to develop and implement a workable solution for our customers,” Australia Post executive general manager Gary Starr said in a statement.
Similar pauses have been enacted by or are set to begin in the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, France, Austria and Italy because the “de minimis” exemption
