As the Alberta government seeks public feedback on the potential for nuclear energy, some power companies are increasingly confident about its prospects, with a new report concluding small modular reactors are the right fit and technically feasible in the province.
On Monday, the UCP government unveiled an expert advisory panel to consult with Albertans about the prospects of developing nuclear energy in the province.
“We want to make sure that people understand we are actively talking about adding nuclear to our power grid, both small modular as well as large, and we want to get their feedback on it,” Premier Danielle Smith told reporters.
