WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Budget season continues. On Tuesday, the Wichita City Council will vote to approve the city’s operating budget for 2026.

Work on the budget started at the beginning of the year, with workshops held each month to go over the results of the city’s community survey.

The proposed budget was first presented in July. On Tuesday, the Wichita City Council will consider any last-minute changes and vote to certify the final budget.

Much of what’s included in the budget is a result of that community survey, as well as the city’s budget simulator, an online tool where people can create their own budget for the city.

Some services people wanted to see increased include street repair, city parks, and street lighting.
