A “completely abandoned” Glasgow east end park is blighted by burnt-out trolleys, rubbish, graffiti, and metre-high grass — as bureaucratic red tape leaves it in limbo.

Residents living near Hogarth Park branded the formerly “well-maintained” green space “depressing” and an “eyesore”, as they worry the park has become a “den of iniquity.” Martin Monaghan, 54, has lived between Dennistoun and Carntyne all his life.

He said: “Hogarth Park was always well maintained. It was a recreational space and a community space — It’s now been completely abandoned.”

The park is in a sorry state, thick with weeds and punctuated by rubbish, with fading graffiti scarring crumbling concrete and rusting equipment. A burnt-out trolley stands at the centre circle of the five-a-side pitch.
