BLOOMINGTON ( 25News Now ) - A judge has chosen to keep a man from Normal in jail until his trial for allegedly aborting his girlfriend’s pregnancy without her approval.
Emerson Evans, 31, is charged with two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child, which carries the same penalties as first-degree murder.
Evans reportedly told investigators he bought abortion pills, or mifepristone, from a “girl on campus.” He’s accused of placing four of the abortion pills inside his girlfriend during intercourse without her knowledge, according to a court document.
In court on Monday, the prosecution said a doctor’s visit two days before the incident revealed the victim was seven weeks pregnant, and the pregnancy was normal and healthy.
