BEREA, Ky. (FOX 56) — A calm Monday afternoon on Brooklyn Boulevard in Berea contrasted sharply with the early Sunday morning scene.
"We had officers go out there, and as they were talking to one individual, more individuals showed up, and that's when it came to find out that there was about 20 vehicles gone through," said Sgt. Barry Manley, public information officer for the Berea Police Department.
Police said the individuals simply went up to cars to check to see if they were unlocked, and the ones that were unlocked seemed to be the ones that were broken into.
Breanna Lear said she recalls a few car thefts happening in the area about two years ago, but the recent thefts are a shocker.
"You usually don't hear about that around here; it's usually quiet," Lear said.
