BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A pedestrian who was struck along a major interstate east of downtown Birmingham early Monday morning died at UAB Hospital.
According to Birmingham Police, the unidentified woman was hit on Interstate 20/59 at the Messer Airport Highway exit around 3:54 a.m.
The incident caused delays Monday morning for drivers headed east out of the city, as police had two lanes closed just before the I-20/59 split.
Police said no one is currently in custody as they continue to investigate what happened.
