A program aimed to help students who have been suspended, or are facing suspension from school, get back on track is expanding to East Hamilton.

"Our landscape has changed. I feel the pressures the youth are facing [now] are different," Kim Horan, general manager of youth intervention services with the YMCA of Hamilton-Burlington-Brantford told CBC Hamilton.

Back on Track by the Y , previously known as YMCA Alternative Suspension launched in Hamilton in 2022 to help students aged 12 to 17 who have been suspended or are at risk of suspension. The program has several sites across the country, including in Ottawa, Edmonton and Montreal.
