Sturgeon County has issued a fire restriction to be implemented today (August 26) at 10 a.m.. This restriction includes Sturgeon County, as well as the towns of Bon Accord, Legal and Redwater.

The County cites an increased risk of fire due to the hot weather currently facing the area which is expected to continue throughout the week.

As a result of the restriction, no new burn permits or firework permits will be issued, with all current fire permits being suspended until further notice. All outdoor fires presently burning, whether set under the authority of a permit or not, must be extinguished.

Firework permits for low hazard/family fireworks are also suspended and the use of exploding targets and tracer rounds are not permitted.
