Court officials confirmed that Magistrate Stephanie Johnson, linked to two controversial bail decisions for violent offenders, no longer works in the court system.

Johnson's exit came on the day after an internal review by two judges found Johnson had sufficient evidence to hold Michael Gleason Jr., 50, on preventive detention amid allegations of sexual assault and domestic violence. Gleason was released on $5,000 bail and then shot and killed his estranged wife in July.

Johnson was also the magistrate who ordered the release of Kyle Bisson, a Manchester man who was charged with assault and falsifying evidence after he allegedly stabbed a man with a pocketknife during a fight at a downtown convenience store in February.
