CLAREMONT, N.H. —

With classes scheduled to start in Claremont in two days, the school district is still grappling with a multimillion-dollar budget deficit that could force the cancellation of extracurricular activities.

The school board plans to meet again next week after a contentious meeting Monday night in which officials were peppered with questions from parents, teachers and students.

"There was a 15-year-old who asked a question: 'Where's the money?' And nobody could answer that question," said Claremont resident Joe Lowry. "So, to me, still, a lot of questions remain."

Concerns and frustrations continue to grow as Claremont schools try to figure out how to deal with the multimillion-dollar budget shortfall.
