The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is holding its annual summer meeting in downtown Minneapolis this week, ahead of 2026 midterm elections when Democrats will try to recapture control of Congress.
Gov. Tim Walz and other Minnesota lawmakers spoke Monday morning as the three-day event kicked off at the Hilton Minneapolis. More than 400 elected party officials from across the country will be in town as the meeting continues through Wednesday afternoon.
As Walz took center stage, he called on Democrats to unite against President Donald Trump, his "fascist policies," and his "un-American and unconstitutional" federal takeover of Washington, D.C.
"We do not have the luxury to fight amongst ourselves while that thing sits in the White House," he said.
