MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. — A deadly shooting that unfolded in Mount Holly over the weekend is under investigation.
The Mount Holly Police Department said it responded to a home along Tomberlin Road around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, August 23. Officers said they found a woman who had a gunshot wound to the face. Neighbors told police she had come over to their home after being shot next door and was still conscious and breathing despite her injury.
Officers entered the home the woman had run from and found a male inside who was dead. They also found two young girls asleep in separate bedrooms. Both children were unharmed and released to family members.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
