CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hunter Renfrow's NFL comeback is now on hold after being cut by the Carolina Panthers on Thursday.
Renfrow, who was attempting to make the team after missing the entire 2024-25 season due to a serious medical issue, appeared to be on the right track when training camp opened. However, a hamstring injury limited his availability through the preseason.
At Clemson, Renfrow walked on to the team and helped the Tigers win two national championships. He is a native of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Renfrow said the Panthers were the only team he wanted to play with in his comeback attempt, so it remains unclear if he will consider any further opportunities.
