NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport broke ground on the express shuttle connector road project on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

According to airport officials, the roadway will connect the economy garage, employee garage and rental car center on the airport's south campus to the terminal on the north campus. It will be dedicated for shuttle traffic.

The project will cost around $84.5 million. $65 million of the total project was funded by the Federal Aviation Administration through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The new road will decrease wait times for passengers using shuttle services and serve as the foundation for future connectivity to the Baton Rouge to New Orleans railway.
