RED BLUFF, Calif. - The Sacramento Area Football League recently gathered students from across the region for the upcoming annual Youth Shriner Bowl in Oroville. This event is about more than just football.

The game features eighth-grade players and cheerleaders from Lodi to the Oregon border. Students were selected based on their athletic performance, academic achievements, and community service.

Sacramento Area Youth Football Commissioner Jay Erhart emphasized the importance of community service.

"They're going to have to go out to sixty different families and talk about what they're playing in the game for. They're going to talk about how the Shriners support the hospital system in Sacramento," Erhart said. "They're going to also get the word out about the fact that the hospital is
